Bamberg to Volkach - 60 miles

What a great day!   50 degrees on awakening, warmed to mid 70s during the day and best of all the signage today was wunderschön!!!

That's one of the problems... The longer I'm in Germany, the more I remember of the language.   I spoke to quite a few people on the route today but that's another story.

Anyway, the ride went well... Smooth sailing once I got back on the bike path.

Leaving Bamberg

Apartments on the Main River leaving Bamberg.

Main River locks on way out of Bamberg

Yacht club in Eltmann

I rode 40 miles in the first leg, stopped at Mainberg for lunch and then hit the trail again.
Gasthof Schwarzer Adler (hotel restaurant "The Black Eagle"

A Radler bier --- light and refreshing

Bratwurst, sauerkraut and bread

One of the pass through towns was Schweinfurt.   This was my mother's home town and I went to the market place in the middle of the city (die Stadtmitte) and snapped a picture of the old Rathaus (City Hall).

Then I pushed on to Volkach.   Easy ride with some great scenes.... Even took a Ferry across the river at one point. (Picture tomorrow!)

After arriving in Volkach, Hilary informed me that she had had a bad day.  Apparently, the GPS Navigation and her had some difficulties.  Moneypenny (the name Hilary has given the English speaking voice on the Navi) had been giving her fits all day and she was fit to be tied.

We went to Rothenberg ob der Tauber tonight for sightseeing and dinner.   Easy drive there, nice walk and dinner and then back to the room.

Rothenberg marktplatz -  the market place in the town center

And now, it's time for bed.... Tomorrow is another day of riding 60 miles.   I will go past Würzburg tomorrow (UNESCO site) and end at Karlstadt.

And here was today's route....
